Surface Solutions Spray System
This is where Surface Solutions Powder and activator is applied by spraying through a hopper. The coloured Powder/Activator mix is applied with a spray texture as one base colour. More colours may be finely sprayed over the first to achieve multiple colour appearances.
The spray texture can be applied as a uniform layer or as a tiled layout, using appropriate masking off. Stencils are also available to provide a large number of repetitive patterns.
Surface Solutions Spray texture is the ideal decorative coating where a high degree of slip resistance is required. It is applied over concrete to patios, steps, ramps, swimming pools, etc.
Surface Preparation
The most common substrate over which Spray texture is applied is concrete. The concrete surface must be sound, free from all oily residues, moulds and other growths. New and non-weathered concrete surfaces must require removal of the fine cement layer that can be floated to the surface during trowelling. In all cases water blasting, etching or grinding of the surface will be required. This is part of the preparation work that our applicators carry out for you.
Crack Repair
After the surface has been prepared, any cracks that are stable are repaired using the KCP epoxy kit. Added fibreglass provides added strength to the epoxy-bridged crack. Unstable cracks and expansion joints may be hidden using a tile effect.
Priming
Where the concrete is dry and there is no continuous rising dampness, Activator concentrate is diluted 50:50 with water, and is applied by brush roller or sprayed to the surface.
Over damp substrates, Epoxy Aquaseal is required. A complete water barrier is required to eliminate possible milkiness under the subsequent glaze. Epoxy Aquaseal requires 24 hrs to cross link and dry prior to the application of the Spray topping.
Spray Texture
Surface Solutions powder is blended with 4 litres of Activator. Addition of the colour sachet will provide good colour strength. Mixing is carried out for approximately 2 minutes with a high-speed drill.
The mixed product can be applied by trowel or spray to provide a suitable colour for the grout lines of a tile pattern.
Once masking or stencils have been laid, spraying of the texture is carried out using a hopper feed spray gun. 24-hrs minimum cure time is required prior to sealing with Finish Coat or Uraglaze.
Sealing
The spray texture must be completely dry before the sealer is applied. Shaded areas may require more drying time.
Where a medium term protection is required to maintain the colour of the texture, the growth of the mould and reduce the resistance to staining, Finish Coat is recommended. Finish coat is an acrylic solution and is ideal for pathways and driveways where black tyre marking is a problem.
For sealing of areas where a more durable sealer is required, our Uraglaze is recommended. This two component polyurethane produces a scratch resistant, chemical resistant coating, ideal for garage and Kitchen floors
